How exciting!

We’re thrilled you want a GSA club at your school! Here are some of our top recommendations to help students get one started and our best practices for GSA advisors. And of course we’re here to answer any questions you may have and connect you with resources and tools to help your students succeed.

We know you’ve got questions too, so I’m excited to invite you and any school staff who are curious about serving as a GSA advisor to join our Statewide monthly meet ups! This virtual meeting will welcome school staff, GSA sponsors, student leaders, and allies from across Texas to discuss the benefits of GSA clubs, as well as best practices for getting a club up and running and keeping it sustainable.

Please make an appointment with our TX GSA Network Coordinator to get started or email tez.figueroa@outyouth.org

Other recommendations for creating safer schools for all students include comprehensive and enumerated anti-bullying policies at the district level, access to LGBTQ-related resources and curricula, and professional development on LGBTQ+ competency for school staff, all things we’ll touch on in our upcoming Town Hall. In the meantime, if you have any questions or need any support around making your school one where all students feel safe and welcome, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We’re here to help!
